Inspiration
Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, non-urgent healthcare services had reduced drastically and there is an increasing demand for remote outpatient solutions.
Over 7 million people live alone in the UK, and almost half of this population are seniors aged 65 or above. The vulnerable population was suggested to self-isolate, and their caregivers may not be able to reach them.
In light of this, we are building an app to check in daily with people who are self-isolating and living alone. Ideally, the app would contribute to the early detection of individuals with worsening symptoms for timely treatment.
To tackle the digital divide, daily check-ins are conducted through daily programmed phone calls.
How it works
Partnership with national healthcare system such as NHS/ opt-in subscribe to service
Daily programmed phone calls for daily check-in
Alert healthcare providers/ emergency services if no one answer the call after 3 rings at separate times in a day
Testing
Call +1 650-332-4721
Note: you can call international numbers for free using Google Hangouts ;)
How we built it
Programmed phone calls using Dialogflow
Back-end development using Firebase
Challenges we ran into
Not all of us have experience in chatbot development and we spent a lot of time learning the basics.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We built a functional prototype (in a short span of time)!
What we learned
We learnt a lot about using Dialogflow and backend development
What's next for Carebot
Self-initiated phone calls at designated periods
Web dashboard for healthcare providers
Built With
- dialogflow
- firebase
