Inspiration

We were inspired to create Care Fund after seeing the positive impact that crowdfunding can have on communities. However, we noticed the limitations of centralized platforms and wanted to build a decentralized platform that would overcome these limitations and empower individuals to make an even greater impact. We were motivated to democratize philanthropy and give people the power to drive change and create meaningful impact, no matter their financial resources. That's how the idea for Care Fund was born.

What it does

Care Fund is a decentralized crowdfunding platform that empowers individuals to make a positive impact in their communities and the world. It allows users to support causes they care about and track the impact of their donations in a secure and transparent way. By utilizing blockchain technology, Care Fund cuts out intermediaries and provides a direct connection between donors and causes. This not only ensures transparency, but also reduces fees and allows for a wider reach. With Care Fund, anyone can be a philanthropist and make a difference in the lives of others.

How we built it

We began by creating our smart contracts on remix ide and testing every functionality before moving on to the front end of our projects in accordance with our smart contracts. The front end of our website was designed using nextjs and materialui. We again tested the operation of our smart contract while attempting to build up a local blockchain server on our machine using hardhat. The difficult part started here when we had to use etherjs to integrate our smart contract with the front end.

Challenges we ran into

The integration of the smart contract with the front end was one of the largest challenges because it required the majority of our time to solve and we are still working to be bug-free.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

One of the most noteworthy aspects of this hackathon was fixing the numerous faults we encountered early on.  Going through each and every line while maintaining a focused attitude and methodical approach to problem-solving. We take pride in the fact that we didn't give up and kept going till we successfully submitted the 36-hour effort of passion.

What we learned

How to spend 36 hours sitting still! Jokes aside, it was an incredible opportunity for us to attend HTF 3.0 with such a great group of folks and receive mentoring from people we look forward to. We gained knowledge about teamwork and project collaboration.

What's next for Care Fund

The next step for Care Fund is to continue growing its user base and expanding the reach of the platform. Our goal is to make Care Fund the go-to destination for individuals who want to make a positive impact in their communities and the world. In the near future, we hope to provide our donors with an NFT as a thank-you for their support following each donation. Our goal is to serve a large audience by offering a larger range of categories to define each person's circumstance and offer as much assistance as we can. Finally, we would make our user interface intuitive and functional in the ways that it was envisioned.
