Inspiration

Our Inspiration for Carbounter after reading about Greta Thunberg, and realizing that if this girl our age, was able to spark a global movement, why couldn't we follow. This is why we developed Carbounter so that we too can help mitigate climate change and have a real future.

What it does

Carbounter calculates your Carbon Footprint based on bills and then provides information about ways to decrease your Carbon Footprint and also has a short quiz to test your knowledge regarding Carbon Emissions.

How we built it

We built it using HTML, CSS, JS, Pymongo, Flask, and Python, with a lot of help from stack overflow and W3schools we managed to develop this website.

Challenges we ran into

Two of the members were primarily C++ and Java users and one of us was a novice which meant half of our team learned CSS and JS while we were coding. Additionally, we had a hard time getting the formatting right and debugging with this foreign code.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were able to add more than one feature to our website and both of which function much better than expected.

What we learned

We learned how to code using HTML, CSS, and JS as well as more about how to grow more Carbon Neutral and being my eco-friendly as a whole. As well as how to work efficiently to make a project in such a small time frame.
