Inspiration
We were inspired by various class projects, especially Nakul's chemistry project focusing on CO2 in the atmosphere and ocean acidification.
What it does
It simulates the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere and interacts with user decisions on the amount of cars in the world and the average miles per day. Additionally, the CO2 decreases every day if there are no sources, simulating the effect of trees and plants, and it also depicts the interaction between electric cars and the capacity of the power grid.
How we built it
We built it in Replit using Javascript, HTML, and CSS. We prototyped and drew out ideas to determine the direction we would go into.
Challenges we ran into
None of us being web design experts, we had difficulties making the project look good on multiple screens with different sizes.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We had achieved everything we were aiming to do; although we had additional ideas, they were extraneous to the main project.
What we learned
We gained a deeper knowledge of the languages we used and how they interact.
What's next for Carbon Emissions Simulator
We plan to expand the entire project by adding more simulations, possibly including one focusing more on the ocean, and adding more realism to the main one.
