Inspiration

We wanted to create a website that helps you quantify the environmental impact of your daily actions to help take small steps to reduce overall carbon footprint.

What it does

After answering a few simple questions, our website will calculate your estimated weekly carbon footprint and then offer suggestions to help reduce it.

How we built it

We used Python, HTML, and CSS with Bootstrap.

Challenges we ran into

Finding data to actually quantify carbon emissions, figuring out how to code a website with HTML, and connecting the front end and back end.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Super cute logo and name! Having an aesthetic, clean website. And finally connecting frontend and backend!

What we learned

How to code using HTML and Python, how to delegate tasks to work together. How to work with backends and frontends simultaneously.

What's next for /carbon

We would love to personalize feedback based on current climate/season, socioeconomic demographics, and more factors. We'd like to make this more fun, and one way is tocreate progress badges users can earn that can be exchanged for real trees being planted (we would need funding for this!).
