Inspiration

The inspiration behind CarboCredit was the urgent need to combat climate change through innovative solutions. Traditional carbon offset systems often lack transparency and accessibility, making it difficult for individuals and businesses to meaningfully contribute to emission reduction. By leveraging blockchain technology, we sought to create a transparent, secure, and efficient platform that democratizes access to carbon credit trading while promoting sustainable practices.

What it does

CarboCredit is a blockchain-powered platform that allows individuals and organizations to calculate their carbon footprint and offset it by purchasing carbon credits. These credits support verified projects such as reforestation, renewable energy, and carbon capture initiatives. CarboCredit provides an intuitive interface for users to track their contributions, ensures transparency in transactions, and fosters global collaboration to achieve Net Zero carbon emissions.

How we built it

CarboCredit was built using XRPL (XRP Ledger) blockchain technology to ensure fast, cost-effective, and transparent transactions. The front end was developed using React for an interactive user experience, while the backend was implemented with Node.js and integrated seamlessly with the XRPL. Data from carbon offset projects was incorporated through APIs and verified standards to ensure the credits are legitimate and impactful.
