Inspiration
Studying alone can be tiring and often very demotivating, but when studying with friends, it can be hard to stay focused. We were inspired to create a solution to this problem of ours.
What it does
CapyCare is a collaborative Pomodoro webapp which allows you to connect with your friends in a room with a Pomodoro timer. When you join, you're assigned a cute capybara avatar to keep you company. The room has a chat where you can talk with your friends, a task-list to stay organized, and a timer to stay on track.
How we built it
We built CapyCare using a NextJS + React Frontend, TailwindCSS for styling, and Supabase Realtime for a websocket connection to connect users. We planned out the project in Figjam; Originally, we thought that it'd be a mobile app, but we decided on creating a website because we believed it'd be more accessible to everyone. To make our workflow more efficient, we leveraged LLMs to help out and give suggestions.
Challenges we ran into
A few of the biggest challenges involved working with Supabase Realtime and managing user sessions. keeping track of their avatar, id, and everything else was a tough learning curve to overcome.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of how far we've come in such a short time in terms of our learning and newfound knowledge. It was definitely a tough experience but we're happy we were able to bring our idea to life.
