Inspiration
I loved fossils as a child, and everyone dislikes the constant construction around campus, so I saw an opportunity to combine the two.
What it does
A game about digging up fossils. Randomly generated skeletons are covered in dirt and rocks, and the player must uncover them using various tools. The player is scored on how much the fossil is uncovered at the end of a time limit and previous fossils can be looked at in a museum screen.
How we built it
Pygame was used for the front-end, screens and buttons and whatnot, and Python Image Library is used for the back end assembling of randomly generated fossils.
Challenges we ran into
I am not an artist, so the images are not that great. People also dont like Comic Sans, but I think its a good font.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I am proud of doing this solo, it was my first solo hackathon project
What we learned
Time management is important, and Art is a much larger part than I expected.
What's next for Campus Dig
Different Types of Bones? Different Tools? Making the tools effect circles rather than squares?
