Campus-Cravings - Food delivery for students by students

Inspiration

Campus life is busy, and many students struggle to balance part-time jobs with classes. We wanted to create a flexible way for students to earn money while helping others get food delivered conveniently—without disrupting their studies.

What it does

Campus Cravings is a mobile app designed for campus students:

Students can earn money by delivering food to fellow students while getting their own.
Students who need food can place an order from anywhere on campus and have it delivered straight to their seat.
The system is campus-exclusive, making it fast and reliable. Essentially, it provides a second way of earning for students who don’t want to take on a traditional part-time job, and it offers convenience for those receiving food. ## How I built it Front-end: Mobile interface with an intuitive design for ordering and tracking food. Back-end: Handled student accounts, orders, and payments. APIs: We used the Leaflet API for mapping delivery locations on campus. Payment & rewards: Implemented a system to manage payments and earnings for student deliverers. We focused on smooth user experience, ensuring that both ordering and delivering food is seamless. ## Challenges I ran into Mapping & location tracking: Integrating campus-wide locations accurately required learning and adapting the Leaflet API. -Concurrent users: Managing multiple orders and deliveries simultaneously without confusion was tricky. -Balancing earning and delivery: Ensuring that students delivering food could get their own order quickly while completing deliveries efficiently. ## Accomplishments that I'm proud of -Successfully implemented campus-wide delivery mapping using the Leaflet API. -Built a system where students can earn while delivering their own orders, creating a unique earning model. -Developed a fully functional app in a short timeframe, ensuring a smooth and intuitive user experience. ## What I learned -Practical experience with location-based services and API integration. -Designing an app that balances user convenience with earning efficiency. -Coordinating effectively in a team under hackathon time constraints. ## What's next for Campus-Cravings -Expand to support more campus services, like grocery or stationery deliveries. -Integrate real-time tracking and notifications for faster and more transparent deliveries. -Implement ratings and rewards to incentivize reliable student deliverers. -Explore partnerships with campus eateries to offer exclusive deals and discounts.
