Inspiration

Grocery prices keep rising, and most people don’t realize how much they overpay just by shopping at one store out of habit. We wanted to make saving money as easy as clicking a button—no coupon hunting, no manual price checks.

What it does

SmartCart automatically compares grocery prices across all nearby stores and figures out the cheapest way to complete your shopping list. You simply enter the items you need, and the app instantly shows which stores offer the lowest total cost. It’s like Google Flights for groceries—same groceries, just smarter choices.

Challenges we ran into

Accessing live grocery price data was difficult—most APIs are private or limited. We also had to balance speed and practicality, ensuring the algorithm stayed fast for lists of 50+ items without being overly complex.
