Inspiration

History’s been losing its spark lately. People memorize dates but never feel the real energy behind past civilizations. We wanted to flip that — to make history immersive, alive, and something people actually experience instead of just study.

What it does

World of Dynasties (W.O.D) drops users into a fully built medieval Chinese city. Instead of reading about culture, markets, or architecture, users walk through them. They explore streets, interact with buildings, meet NPCs, collect puzzle pieces, and learn through gameplay. It blends exploration with education to make history feel like an adventure instead of homework.

How we built it

We created W.O.D using MoonLake AI — an AI reality engine that generates VR environments. We used it to build streets, markets, temples, NPCs, animations, and cultural details. Everything from the environments to the interactive elements was constructed through MoonLake’s world-generation tools.

Challenges we ran into

Getting 3D assets to actually appear and behave correctly fought us the entire time. Interactions wouldn’t load, objects wouldn’t spawn, and animations needed tons of refinement. Plus, none of us had real VR experience before this hackathon, so there was a learning curve on literally every step.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We built a deeply detailed, culturally rich VR world that genuinely reflects medieval Chinese life. From architecture to symbolism to everyday routines, the environment feels authentic and interactive. Turning all of that into a playable learning experience is something we’re extremely proud of.

What we learned

This was a crash course in VR, MoonLake AI, world generation, and game-style interaction design. We learned how VR engines work, how to structure immersive scenes, and how to convert historical information into engaging mechanics.

What's next for W.O.D

We want W.O.D to evolve into a dynamic historical engine where users can choose any civilization and any time period — ancient, medieval, or modern — and instantly step inside a fully rendered world. Whether it’s African kingdoms, Indian empires, British eras, or American timelines, the goal is to let users explore history by living it.
