Inspiration
With everything becoming remote, it's super easy to get lost, confused and overwhelmed at your workplace.
As well, butterflies have a special meaning to us! We wanted to incorporate our love of butterflies into the business idea.
Thus ButterflyHQ was formed!
Employees are like caterpillars turning into butterflies. We want to help. Our goal is to guide employees into creating a productive and user-friendly work environment remotely. ButterflyHQ provides amazing support where we can all watch the little caterpillars (employees) grow beautiful wings to fly to new heights in their careers.
What it does
ButterflyHQ deals with the entire onboarding process for new employees in one space. Additionally, we want to help support previous employees transitioning into remote work.
Onboarding
- Onboarding can be done all in one place, with functionality for submitting documents, training, and watching videos.
- Our dashboard design provides reminders of important tasks to employees and support resources on the main page.
Communications
- All communication applications can be easily accessed in one place. ButterflyHQ hosts the applications within the website
- Fully customizable to what each company uses.
Schedule
- Syncs with other calendar applications
- Employers can view coworkers' schedules
- Can clock in and out on the website
- Can request time off, vacation and sick days if needed
Documents
- All information is in one places such as manuals, onboarding documents, resources, archives, meeting minutes, and much more
- Employers can restrict employees' confidential documents if needed
- Can collaborate on documents. Changes to documents can be made and approved by managers.
Daily Wellness Check-In
- Our goal at ButterflyHQ is to ensure that all employees are feeling safe, productive, and confident in their position.
- The wellness check-in is confidential data to let managers know how their team feels, as it is incredibly difficult to know how the other person feels behind the screen.
How we built it
We planned the UI/UX of the website using Figma. Then we coded the website using HTML, CSS, javascript, and react.
Challenges we ran into
The backend development of the website was a challenge. It was difficult to store data and analyze it within a short period of time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of what we created in such a short period of time. We like how creative these challenges were and they got us to think outside of the box
What we learned
Since it is our first in-person hackathon, we learned more skills, especially how to work under pressure.
What's next for Butterfly HQ
Hopefully, we will implement the backend and all the remaining services within the site. As well, we hope to make the site fully operational, for companies to begin using.
