Inspiration

Security is very necessary in our daily-life. Nowadays, there are crimes committed due to security breach. Technology is also improving everyday and almost everything is getting automated. So this gave us the idea to create a solution to manual doors and at the same time secured

What it does

We can now set our building-security based control system to an automation mode, keeping the option to switch back to a manual mode if necessary. With our security-system, we can now open or close the door within our room without getting too close to the door which can be a lot stressful. User can set passcodes to security lock for restriction of access. You can also have a free-movement mode, here once you get close to the door, it opens automatically. This mode can also be adopted when hosting a party or more.

How we built it

We built this project using an Arduino UNO microcontroller with a lot of sensors like the motion sensor, infrared remote sensor and receiver, the servo rotor and numbers of LEDS.

Challenges we ran into

We had some issues with the responsivity of every commands simultaneously because the system has to read the codes line by line. But we were able to solve them by reducing the delays and using other algorithms

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were able to create a solution to a sort of real-world problem. Though this is just a prototype but it clearly portrays the aim of the hardware and software program.

What we learned

We were able to learn a lot during this hackathon like to develop new algorithms to use in Arduino programming. We also learnt how to work collaboratively and increase our production pace to meet up with deadlines

What's next for Building Security Control System

We intend to add more features to our home security system, like cameras, voice control from authorized user. We also have plans to add more layers of security like fingerprint options. There also several types of doors/entrance which will require different security uses cases like for banks, mall, and more. We’d have love to implement more of this if there was more duration for the hackathon.
