Inspiration

Many people struggle with managing money (especially students like us) and don’t know where to start when it comes to investing. We wanted to create a tool that not only builds a customized financial plan but also educates users about financial concepts in a simple and approachable way.

What it does

Budget2Broker takes in a user’s financial history and goals, then generates a personalized roadmap to help them reach those goals. Alongside the plan, the platform shares clear, beginner-friendly explanations of investment types and financial strategies, making money management less overwhelming.

How we built it

We built the frontend with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to make the app interactive and easy to use. We used structured data inputs and planning algorithms to map user goals to tailored financial plans. The educational content is presented through a clean interface to encourage learning while planning. We used the following website to get information about types of investments, HYSA rates at different institutions, and stock market charts respectively:

Challenges we ran into

Learning curve for integrating frontend with backend
Designing a balance between simplicity and depth when presenting financial advice.
Making the plan generation meaningful without overwhelming the user.
Time constraints during the hackathon while implementing multiple features.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Creating a working prototype that generates personalized plans.

Building a product that combines practicality (planning) with education (financial literacy).

What we learned

We learned how to simplify complex financial concepts into clear explanations. We also gained experience balancing frontend design with algorithmic logic to create a user-friendly yet functional app.

Expanding the plan generation with more advanced financial modeling.
Integrate an AI chat where the user can ask questions, receive personalized feedback, and learn.
Integrate the Instagram Reels regarding investments.
Integrating real-time financial data (e.g., market updates, savings growth).
Gamifying the learning aspect to make financial education more engaging.
