Inspiration
We were inspired by the growing number of foreign professionals who come to Canada only to end up doing something completely different from what they trained for and practiced back home.
What it does
BridgeAI helps foreign professionals continue their careers in Canada. It scans resumes, identifies gaps, and generates a personalized roadmap for certifications/licences and relevant job opportunities.
How we built it
We built the frontend with Next.js, used MongoDB for storing profile, resume data, chat history and integrated Google Gemini to analyze resumes and recommend career pathways aligned with Canadian standards.
Challenges we ran into
One major challenge was building the live chat feature, especially integrating WebSockets for real-time messaging and storing chat history reliably.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We built a working AI-powered software proudct in just a weekend, designed not only to help users but to contribute meaningfully to global goals. BridgeAI directly supports:
SDG 4: Quality Education - by providing clear pathways to recognized credentials.
SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth - by connecting foreign professionals to career-aligned opportunities.
SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities - by leveling the playing field for newcomers with global experience.
What we learned
We learned how to harness LLMs for practical use cases, how to design with empathy (keep user experience a priority), and how to guide AI to deliver clear, actionable feedback for real-world users.
What's next for BridgeAI
Next, we’ll expand to more professions, integrate credential validation APIs, and partner with Canadian institutions, so foreign professionals can reclaim their careers, not just restart them.
