Inspiration
One of our classmates has an allergy that makes it very hard to eat most foods and something like this would give more opportunity that would give a chance to find a place to accommodate her needs beforehand, rather than finding out she can't eat anything when we got there.
What it does
Bridge is a website focused on promoting accessible space. The website provides several services, such as chatrooms and an events page. The chatrooms serve to create a community where people can have access to others who face similar accessibility issues and disabilities and can ask for advice or just talk to someone with a similar day to day life. The events page showcases and promotes events in the community that have accessible spaces or are specifically for people with disabilities such as in-person support groups.
How I built it
We built this with HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Bootstrap, and Python.
Challenges I ran into
None of the team members have very much experience with coding like this, and it was a very big learning curve. This is also our first hackathon for all of us.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
We are on our way to making our first website!
What I learned
We learned a lot about coding! Especially in languages like HTML. Most of us only knew one coding language like python, or haven't coded at all. We all have very different skill sets and it's so great that we were able to come together and make something like this.
What's next for Bridge
We plan on fine-tuning the website and making it fully operational
