What it does

-BrickByte tokenizes real-world properties into fractional digital assets on the blockchain. That means a person can own a small share of a premium property — say a beach villa or a commercial flat — with minimal investment. -When the property value increases, the fractional share’s price appreciates too, giving users ROI or profit proportional to their holdings.

How we built it

-Website: Next.js 14, Node.js + Express.js for handling APIs, authentication, and property listing logic. -Smart Contracts: Solidity-based ERC721/1155 contracts on Ethereum testnet to handle fractional ownership, staking, and rewards. -AI Module (Planned): AI-based property valuation and predictive ROI model (mocked during the demo).

Challenges we ran into

-Managing fractional ownership logic in smart contracts without bloating gas usage. -Dealing with deployment issues minutes before the submission (and still fixing it under pressure 😅). -Designing a clean UI for blockchain users while maintaining real estate-level trust and simplicity. -Integrating wallet-based authentication and staking features with minimal backend dependency.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

-Building a working prototype that allows users to list, buy, and stake property shares in real time. -Turning a big, complex domain like real estate investment into something student-built yet production-grade.

What we learned

-How to merge blockchain, finance, and real estate into one product. -How to handle team pressure, last-minute bugs, and tight hackathon timelines.

What's next for Brickbyte

-Integrate AI-based property valuation and risk scoring. -Launch on Polygon or Base testnet for broader adoption. -Build a multi-chain system where users can trade shares cross-network. -Add rental income sharing, secondary marketplace, and KYC integration for real-world investors. -Onboard real property partners to make fractional real estate investment mainstream.
