Inspiration
Most of us have a animal buddy or just love caring for animals. But, seeing stray animals sure hurt a lot. Innocent animals being out in the city away from their natural habitat or a caring home. This problem is solved by brick-catft. We got the inspiration from Pokemon-GO, but we tried to optimize it for any device.
What it does
While moving through the street, if the user sees a stray animal. They can open the app and capture the image of the animal, which is then processed to give some points to the user and send the geo-location and image of stray cat to the Animal-Control department. The user also gets to try the 3D model of the animal in AR. The points which the user earns can be converted to gift-cards.
How we built it
We used HTML, CSS and JavaScript for the front-end. AR.js and EchoAR for the AR room and models.
Challenges we ran into
We faced some issues due to EchoAR being down for some time and AR.js not supporting some devices.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We learned about AR.js and EchoAR in the project. Also, quite happy to make something to help the stray animals.
What we learned
We learned HTMl, CSS, AR.js, JS, API-call and google web-engine.
What's next for Brick-catft
We are planning to add Google-cloud vision api for animal detection and database to check for duplicate or similar entries.
