Boss Babes

We were inspired by Tiktok shifting culture, old internet forums, "Don't Stop Girlypop", mashup of social media forums, gacha games, and blackjack and manliness with girliness. Boss Babes allows you to post, like, and comment on the website, while also chatting with your other girly boss friends. The website is designed for Souls-like bosses (and more!) who are unsatisfied with their current "game" (living) situations. You can also gain clout through playing professional blackjack. Posts gain traction and get bumped up through challenging other boss's posts. The mash-up portion of our project comes from the gambling, souls-like, and girly elements. Instead of basic forum/social media mechanics, we incorporated gambling instead of biased algorithms. Instead of political and boring forum subjects, grungy video game bosses would rant about their girly struggles. We used java to code the backend development of the blackjack game while using HTML and CSS to develop our front end system and social media forum. We used Wordpress to help build the forum framework. However along the way, we faced issues on not getting the web hosting to work, running out of time to code additional content, not being able to host Wordpress (PHP) We accomplished developing a fully functional and blackjack application and an interactable forum. We learned the application of java locally hosting on web using Spring Initiallizer plugin, not overestimating the time we had to complete a fully functioning webapp In the future, Boss Babes will have more interactable communities and rooms, a functioning gacha system with regular upates and new characters, and new minigames alongside blackjack updates to support game bosses who are desperately unsatisfied with their games.
