Inspiration.

We are looking at how we can bring value in Hyper local communities, How local businesses/community groups can effectively engage with there community members. Our vision is to build an app that can manage spatial content based on a local community and give value to both businesses and members. Example : There’s a lot of money spent by businesses for the promotion of their services, like shops trying to promote their products or communities trying to promote their events and many more. It’s expensive to change the physical banners and other advertising methods every time there’s a change.

What it does.

As a solution to the above problem we came with an app called “Bosch Geo Vision”. The App uses Geo Spatial API to connect VPS, GPS and AR. This allows users (authors : businesses/community groups) to create Virtual Banners with information display at a specified location, which can be viewed by the users (community members) in AR view using the app. It helps in reducing the amount spent on promotions and also it’s more convenient for the users to know the information digitally about a community or a shopping street without entering inside.

How we built it

Using Unity 3D with Geo Spatial anchors present in AR Core extensions, developed use case which displays the banners on the shops. We used Azure SQL database to store and retrieve the shop information. Technologies used:

  1. Unity 3D
  2. c#
  3. AR Core
  4. Geo spatial API
  5. API communication.
  6. Azure SQL database.

Challenges we ran into

  1. API communication.
  2. Getting the stability in non street view
  3. Multiple banner instantiation

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  1. Learnt Geo spatial api
  2. Stability of the app
  3. Scalability

What we learned

  1. Learnt Geo spatial api
  2. API communication

What's next for Bosch Geo Vision

  1. Adding language translation support for the shop boards.
  2. 360 degree view integration for some shops.
  3. Fun elements in UI for a good user experience.
  4. Implement a scalable back-end that can distribute data based on local communities.
