PowerUp

Inspiration

Millions of people around the world suffer through low self esteem and confidence. However, they cannot confide in anyone and have little or no means for building their confidence. I suffer through this too, and this is what led me to build something based on my own personal experience.

What it does

PowerUp uses machine learning to help a person become more confident. By reading out the positive statements the user can boost their self-esteem and confidence

How I built it

I was going over this idea of building a project based on self-esteem for a very long time. However, I was never able to find the motivation to do so. The website is built using HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

Challenges I ran into

One of the biggest challenges was the time constraint for the hackathon. As machine learning is something that I have recently learned , incorporating it in my project was a bit difficult. Also I have never worked with firebase before so working with that was a bit of challenge, because learning and applying the skill within a day is a mammoth task

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I'm really proud of the whole aim and implementation of the project. I worked with firebase and google cloud for the first time and was glad to see it work so well. In addition, I am proud of my project that intended users can cover both teenagers and adults since every human being tends to suffer from certain problems regarding confidence. I am also really proud that I was able to implement a machine learning camera, a speech to text system, and also a database in a short amount of time.

What I learned

Since I am a beginner and lack any prior experience, I hesitated to jump into such an intricate at first when I started developing this idea. I learned a lot on javascript, especially on API's, and machine learning. All in all, this project allowed me to discover new methods and information that eventually helped me further my technical approach

What's next for PowerUp

Next, I would love to add more interesting features to the website. I would also like the website to reach more users globally and have a positive impact on more people.
