Book and come

Inspiration

Sometimes you want to book a table in your favourite restaurant on Friday night. Or make meals prepared by specified time and take out. Or book a table and order some meals to be prepared once you come there. Or just come to a restaurant and make an order faster without waiting a waiter to come to you in 15 minutes (we know it's quite busy time for them). How many ways to do that? It seems that not so many at least in Russia where we made some research. Would it be great to have a simple app where you can do all of the above? Would it be better for restaurants to have an additional channel of customers?

What it does

It helps you to resolve issues when you want to go out for a restaurant. Without our app, you're likely to call to a few places to find out whether there are free tables there and book them. You won't be able to preorder some food or order online, pay online and take out. Restaurant owners will have more opportunities while 'old-school' visit of a restaraunt will still be their main channel of revenue.

How we built it

We built it using React and commercetools. We have set up a product list (food and drinks) inside a commercetools platform and React app consumes it via the API.

Challenges we ran into

It was difficult to decide how restaurant staff will manage their data and we spent quite a lot of time arguing how exactly should be done and still didn't find a compromise.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were all not familiar with commercetools platform before we began, but were still manage to create list of products and expose them via the API. I wouldn't say 'proud' of that, but maybe happy and satisfied.

What's next for Book and come

Next we are going to utilize a Contentstack in order to have a tool for business owners to manage their content and implement all other features not included currently (booking a table, preorder, take out, etc)
