Bob’s CJD is comprised of a website and a scratch project. CJD is short for Creutzfeldt-Jakob-Disease, and it is a fatal disease that is rare, but kills many people per year. The projects took a long time to create, but it was worth it. In the process, we learned a lot about this disease. We found out about this disease while searching for inspiration. Upon learning about it, we were very sad and shocked about how many people suffered from this disease. The website explains what Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease is, with background images and text. It shows images of healthy brains versus infected brains. The scratch project is similar, and it is an interactive simulation that describes “Bob’s Death by CJD.” It explains how CJD works and why it is fatal. It also shows a timelapse of infected proteins changing the shape of the human brain. We used a brainstorm to decide on how to develop the works. We also did research on the subject on Google and thought about ways to convey the concept easily. A few challenges we faced was the lack of experience in coding in languages like HTML and CSS. We spent a few hours trying to figure out how to make the website look good and presentable. This learning experience led us to many successes as well, like when our code finally started working after 2 and a half hours. Ultimately, our biggest success was the way we used our time wisely to create a website AND an interactive simulation on scratch.
