Inspiration
In today's world of social media and easy sharing, it's common to accidentally reveal sensitive information in photos and videos. Think about the unintentional privacy breaches – like sharing someone's face without their consent or exposing license plate numbers. These slip-ups can lead to identity theft or unwanted surveillance.
The growth of online surveillance and legal and ethical concerns around privacy have made safeguarding personal information a priority. We wanted to empower everyday people to regain control over their privacy online. That's where our project comes in.
Our inspiration comes from the need to give you a simple tool to blur faces and license plates in your visual content.
What it does
With technology on our side, we're making it easy for you to protect your privacy and comply with legal and ethical standards in an era where sharing images and videos is a part of our daily lives
How we built it
We created a web interface that allows users to upload or take an image. The image is then sent to a pre-trained ML model for detection and blurring via API. The Model carries out its functions and sends the modified image back to the clientside. The user then can view and download the new image onto their device
Challenges we ran into
Sending and receiving base64 image files and then displaying those image files was difficult because of the large image addresses. As well as this setting up a collaborative GitHub project and working collectively as a team of 4 provided its own challenges
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Project Submission as first-time hackers, Use of generative AI, Good web design
What we learned
Computer Vision concepts, Image API POST requests
