What is the problem your solution addresses?
As work takes up such a large portion of our lives (the average person works ⅓ of their lives), we chose to address common challenges related to work, such as lack of motivation, burnout, and difficulty remaining productive. Through our user research (10+ survey respondents), we found that many users face procrastination, difficulty staying focused, and struggling to start or finish tasks on time. Some respondents find limited customization options, steep learning curves, and too many steps as aspects they dislike about other productivity platforms. We found that our target audience were students between the ages of 18 to 24. Our app, Bloomy, aims to address this problem by reimagining what it looks like to be productive with healthy habits. Built for all students, we aim to let any user feel recognized for their progress.
Why did you pick this solution, and how does it address the problem?
We chose to design a productivity tool that helps optimize people’s workflow while preventing burnout. As college students ourselves, we have experienced the struggle of staying productive and incorporating healthy habits into our daily lives. With Bloomy, our key features include a to-do list, calendar, milestones page, and explore page. Users are able to select how many tasks they want to complete in a day to help them set goals for themselves. We gamified productivity by letting users set milestones and also see their progress throughout the day. Our explore page also lets users watch videos or read articles that help them learn about productivity and mental mindset further. In addition, users receive check-ins after working for a certain period of time to remind them to take breaks. Bloomy’s primary brand color, green, emulates growth and wellness as the user takes this step to prioritize their health in this busy world.
