Inspiration

We all love the sweet things in life like coffee and chocolate, but have you ever wondered if these items were sourced and presented to you ethically? BlockTrace solve this by providing a customer the path a product takes which in turn provides more security, authenticity, and transparency in the supply chain process.

What it does

How we built it

Backend - Blockchain, Solidity and The Graph. Frontend: to create a product's path, log it along the way as a business, and as a consumer to check a product's history - React, GraphQL, Bootstrap.

Challenges we ran into

A couple challenges include setting up the blockchain, graph, and connecting this to the front end of our application.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're so proud we managed to build a functional blockchain, graph, and a pretty UI (or at least we think its pretty...) for our web app that ties everything together :) All while working with some cutting-edge technologies that we many of us had little to no experience in using before this weekend.

What we learned

This weekend, we learned crucial best practices for working on a project under tight deadlines. We also gained trust in each other's abilities to accomplish our individual tasks and provided support where needed. The most exciting aspect of using these innovative technologies was realizing the endless possibilities and how much more this idea can grow!

Whats next?

Unfortunately, we did not have enough time to implement a sustainability feature which would track the total carbon emissions of a product while it travels along the supply chain. In the future we would love to add this feature which would add one more sustainable incentive for customers/business to use BlockTrace.
