Blanket

Inspiration

Our inspiration came from the flaws we experienced while using the canvas interface on the George Fox Mobile app. The interface was very inconsisent in showing our information regarding our classes, such as, current course schedule, grades, and more. Seeing this inspired us to want to create something that would improve this experience for us and other students.

What it does

Our website provides a secure and user-friendly platform where students can access all the resources they need to succeed in their academic journey. Our goal is to provide a personalized and supportive environment that empowers students to achieve their full potential.

How we built it

Blanket was built using python, html, and css. We use python to extrapolate data from the Canvas API, which we store into a folder, and Blanket pulls from that file supplying it to its own API. For web design, we used html and css as these are fundamental languages in web design applications.

Challenges we ran into

Initially, our first challenge came out of realizing that it might be difficult to pull data from the Canvas API because if we could not then our project would be void. The next challenge we faced was web design. Most of our team are familiar with web design but not extensively and so that challenge awaited us after we acquired all the data.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

An accomplishment we can be proud of is having created and implemented what we designed and thought of into a product that has some functionality. Given the time constraint and new experience this was for some of the members on the team it is valuable to be placed in a situation such as this to learn and grow from.

What we learned

As a whole, we learned more about our individual strengths and capabilites but also our shortcomings as well. This type of environment places us in situations where we have to think realistically about our skills and it is motivating in some aspects as we continue our journey in our respective industries because it shows that there is so much more to learn.

What's next for Blanket

Next, Blanket will most likely go through more testing and implementation as the time contraint allowed for only little of what the full scope of the project could be to be applied and shown. This pertains to back-end and front-end applications.
