Inspiration
As an aspiring game developer, I have surrounded myself with other Black game devs and those who dream of becoming game devs, as well. I wanted to created a location where any Black game developers can come to find whatever resources they need.
What it does
The Black Game Dev Hub (BGDH) features countless resources essential for any Black game developer, listing information from important game creators to follow to learning resources and tools. I wanted to offer a place for inspiration as well as an opportunity for learning.
How we built it
BGDH is made using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. I wanted to refresh my memory of components with this project, so it is largely dependent on those. Each link, the navbar, and the footer is actually a component behind the scenes, offering flexibility and making the site much easier to update in the future.
Challenges we ran into
The one downside of using components is the need to write everything from memory since you are editing a string of information as opposed to adding something directly to an HTML file. There were many typos and errors that slowed progress, though I was quite proud of my memroy of syntax.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I made the website! It's finished, and I'd love to continue working on improving it more. I have so many ideas for what this website could become.
What we learned
I learned so much about how flexible components are! Having to apply them to a project of my own making was a great way to gain some extra practice.
What's next for Black Game Dev Hub
I plan on working on responsiveness and maybe adding some extra styling for more visual interest.
