With a collective experience of almost 25 years in the restaurant industry, our team recognizes that, above all else, location is the linchpin of success. From rent considerations and foot traffic potential to understanding the local spending habits and evaluating the competitive landscape, the location of a business is paramount. While APIs and data sources exist for each of these factors individually, there's a gap – a lack of a unified platform that seamlessly integrates this wealth of information for small business owners who aren't part of billion-dollar multinational corporations or hedge funds.

Navigating Opportunities with Biznify 🗺️

Biznify steps into this void, offering a solution that helps you pinpoint the ideal location for your business through a simple location search. By harnessing data from diverse sources such as Inrix, Datafiniti, and the US Census Bureau, Biznify creates an interactive Google Maps representation of potential business locations, powered by various Google Maps APIs. And the journey doesn't end here – we envision integrating additional data sources, such as FBI crime statistics, to enhance the depth of our location recommendations.

Crafting the Future: The Tech Behind Biznify 💻

Built on cutting-edge technology, Biznify takes full advantage of a Next.JS environment. Our pages are meticulously crafted using TypeScript and React, enriched with the stylish aesthetics of Tailwind CSS. To further tailor our offerings, we've developed a bespoke API using TypeScript, enabling us to parse Datafiniti real estate data and generate precise recommendations for our users. In addition, we used the Inrix On-street, off-street, and trips APIs to augment our process for refining the results for each search query. Locations with more available parking and trips score higher in our overall ranking process.

Triumphs Amidst Challenges 🏆

While creating a user-friendly experience was paramount, it came at the cost of dedicating time that could have been spent on backend features, like implementing a color-coded map for differentiating good, better, and best locations. Additionally, challenges arose with Datafiniti's download service, limiting our access to real estate data. Despite these hurdles, our commitment to a seamless user experience and the successful implementation of our recommendation API stand as accomplishments we proudly celebrate.

Lessons Learned: Unveiling New Horizons 🌐

Being relatively new to Next.JS, each team member embraced the challenge, evolving from novices to capable builders of a compelling full-stack application. The unfamiliar terrain of Google Maps and Datafiniti APIs transformed into a valuable learning experience, expanding our skill set and understanding.

Our vision includes incorporating a neural network to guide business owners in selecting optimal characteristics tailored to their specific ventures. Furthermore, we aspire to elevate the user interface, introducing vibrant colors to distinguish properties based on their ratings and exploring zoning considerations influenced by factors such as crime rates and income demographics.
