Inspiration

We were inspired by the idea that productivity doesn't need to be trust-based — it can be cryptographically verifiable. With Bitcoin’s immutability and the motivational power of micro-rewards, we envisioned a system where completing tasks isn't just satisfying — it's provable and rewarded. We also saw an opportunity to pair this with AI to provide meaningful insights into personal productivity and behavior.

What it does

BitTasker is a Bitcoin-powered productivity platform that allows users to:

Create and manage personal or team tasks
Timestamp task completions on the Bitcoin blockchain using OpenTimestamps
Receive micro-rewards in Bitcoin via the Lightning Network
Get AI-generated time-blocking suggestions, habit insights, and motivational nudges
Share cryptographically verifiable task logs with teams — no more “trust,” only proof

How we built it

Prototyped frontend using Replit (HTML, JS, React)

Built REST APIs using Flask and parts of Node.js

Integrated OpenTimestamps for task proofing

Used LNbits for simulating Lightning-based SATs rewards

Embedded Gemini 1.5 to power the AI coach

Deployed on a Google Cloud VM for testing and scalability

Challenges we ran into

Making Lightning payments work smoothly with microtransactions

Keeping hash data verifiable yet private

Avoiding AI feature creep while maintaining usefulness

UX challenges: designing around trustless systems without overwhelming the user
