I was a cyclist before COVID and saw just how popular the hobby became under lockdown. However I am frustrated by the disconnected bike routes in the city, which encourage biking for recreation but not commuting. I developed this tool to simulate likely bike routes using population density, bike-friendliness of roads, and road length, and it identifies roads that are likely popular routes for cyclists but lack reasonable accomodations. If this tool is used to choose locations for bike-friendly bypass routes, then it would encourage more commute cycling in the post-COVID world.
