Inspiration

Impoverished people are almost 2x as likely to develop mental illnesses and they often do not have the resources to overcome their mental struggles. We want to create a website that offers resources to those people. Impoverished people often can not afford therapy and also can not afford to spend time finding resources.

What it does

Better-Minds aims to provide mental health resources to the impoverished. By creating a condensed website, users can spend less time looking for help. We choose resources that specifically address mental illnesses that stem from large amounts of stress because studies show that stress is the main cause for mental health issues

How we built it

Our team used a variety of articles, videos, and helplines and assembled them using Google Sites.

Challenges we ran into

The quiz was very difficult to design because of the way we wanted the results to display. The website had to be user-friendly so people could find resources efficiently.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of contributing to the mental health of society

What we learned

Mental health often goes unaddressed in impoverished families and due to the lack of resources, suicide rates are much higher in lower socioeconomic classes.

What's next for Better-Minds

We would like to eventually have our own helpline.
