Inspiration

Finding the perfect job can be a daunting task, and many job seekers struggle to find job postings that match their skills and qualifications. That's why we were inspired to create BetterFi, a web app that helps job seekers find job postings that align with their skills and experience and provide recommendations to help them develop the skills they need to succeed.

What it does

BetterFi takes in a job posting and checks a job seeker's qualifications against the job posting requirements. It recommends tutorials and courses to help job seekers develop the skills they need to apply and increase their chances of landing their dream job. The app also generates a template cover letter tailored specifically to the job posting to save job seekers time and effort in creating an application that highlights their strengths.

How we built it

We built BetterFi using a combination of React and JavaScript, and back-end technologies such as Node.js and MongoDB. We used various APIs (Youtube and GPT) to retrieve job posting information and recommended tutorials for job seekers, as well as generating the cover letter template.

Challenges we ran into

The GPT API was often inconsistent in the responses that it gave.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of the front-end UI and the overall aesthetic of the web app, as well as the integration and functionality of the multiple APIs that were used.
