Inspiration -

We were inspired by the use of D2L, and how the website has noticeably worsened our academic experience. The website is clunky, often overwhelming, filled with useless features that only serve to make the experience more confusing, and gives educators too much freedom to structure their classes, which frequently leads to poor class structures.

What it does -

Better D2L was built as a learning management system for students. It provides an organized, secure interface for classroom content.

How we built it -

Website structure was designed using HTML, styling was done by CSS, made dynamic by javascript. Live editing of the website was possible due to Replit. Cloudfare was utilized to host the website, provide security and allow real-time monitoring.

Challenges we ran into -

Custom login system was difficult to implement. Chat box was difficult to style with CSS correctly. Getting all the different parts of the project to work in sync.

Accomplishments that we're proud of -

Chat box works well. Website is well organized. Landing page looks cool.

What we learned -

Learning under stressful conditions is harder than expected. We learned how to work collaboratively on a project, and well. Project management. Time management. How to determine the priority of different tasks.

What's next for BetterD2L -

Improve the overall styling. Add React functionality to the webpages. General improvements. Create a mobile application!
