Restaurant Choice App: A Development Story
The Inspiration
One of the key factors in choosing a restaurant for me is whether it accommodates the dietary restrictions of my friends and family. Often, this requires a direct visit to the restaurant's website. In cases where this isn't an option, Google Maps photos serve as a helpful alternative.
Building the App
Base Framework
We embarked on this project using the Django Web Framework as our foundation.
Testing and Development
- Tool Testing: Initially, we tested Selenium and our APIs independently. This involved using command line CURL requests to ensure that our tools performed as anticipated.
- Integration: Following the individual testing, we integrated these components into a seamless 3-page flow.
Design and Aesthetics
Initial Design Phase
- Figma Creations: Two of our team members dedicated their efforts to creating frontend designs in Figma.
Final Touches
- Styling: Once we had the basic functionality in place, we turned our focus to styling our app. The designs crafted in Figma were used as templates to guide our aesthetic decisions.
This journey not only reflects our technical skills but also our commitment to creating user-centric solutions.
