Inspiration

The inspiration came from the idea that many people wish to volunteer and can't find opportunities and many others need volunteers to better the community yet can't get the necessary head count. That's were BeHelp would come in connecting both ends and allowing a tighter knit community brought together by community service.

What it does

It allows users to rsvp for volunteer events around there community. Also it allows anyone from individual to corporations to create events that people can rsvp to.

How we built it

We built it this by creating a React.js frontend that utilizes Typescript and tailwind. For the backend we use Node.js to serve as a server that the React.js frontend can call.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge we ran into was fixing all the bugs that ended up happening in the frontend, the codebase was large so we had to spend a lot of time debugging the React.js code. Another challenge was connecting the Node.js backend to the superbase database on the cloud.

What we learned

We learned how to do in depth design and work as team to create a working product under a deadline.

What's next for BeHelp

Hopefully we can expand this project to more people and add things like verification for hours. As well as add reward incentives like points that can get things like coupons.
