Inspiration
So we were thinking about penguins, but then we thought polar bears were more accurate and fluffier and cuter. We wanted to guilt trip people into not driving as much.
What it does
The app tracks the user's location to find the velocity the user is traveling at (ideally this would work more effectively in an app rather than a website). This velocity is used to determine whether a user is driving in a car. If they are driving, a certain amount of ice melts depending on the miles traveled.
How we built it
Theoretically we should make it an ios app with swift using apple's location api and local storage. However, we built it using express js and as a website because that is what we know how to do.
Challenges we ran into
There were a lot of bugs that we didn't have time for. We would have liked to built an app, but there wasn't enough experience or time on our side to accomplish that in two days. Additionally, getting hung up on choosing an idea really killed our time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The polar bear drawings were pretty good. The idea behind our app was also good.
What we learned
Time needs to be managed better. Our team needs to be more decisive and specific on its goals.
What's next for Bear Go Brrr
It would be developed into an app rather than a website.
