Inspiration

Google Docs is a game changing product but it was never applied to music production. This hackathon is about community so we decided that a tool to allow people to jam together would make music and inspire people to work together to create

What it does

Allows people to join up in a "room" to work on tracks to make beats for a song.

How we built it

Used firebase for server and database/storage as well as to sync up sessions. Javascript and jQuery for front-end functionality.

Challenges we ran into

Trying to sync up users across several client browsers. Implementing system to play synths and beats while not causing issues for upload of data.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Getting clients to actually share changes in real time.

What we learned

Firebase is very powerful for server side technology. Javascript can be very complex yet powerful when used properly.

What's next for Band Together

Hopefully better user integration and further features such as exporting songs and more variety of instruments.
