Inspiration
Approximately 90k to 100k items are left at TSA checkpoints yearly. Personally, we have lost many valuable items on flights throughout the years and almost always are those items never recovered. Things like this can also degrade the customer experience of air travel, and implementing ways to prevent these problems can be very beneficial to improving the reputation of an airline.
What it does
Baggage buddy keeps track of all the items you brought with you on your flight and reminds you to grab them on your way out from your flight.
How we built it
Baggage buddy was built using OpenCV and an AI classifier algorithm which is trained on common objects. This data is sent to our Python FastAPI backend which is served to our mobile app.
Challenges we ran into
Getting the AI to correctly classify the objects as we didn't have much data to go off of.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Finish the Project on time
What we learned
Problems involving the accuracy of classification AI models
What's next for Baggage Buddy
Better automaton and more accurate models We got alot of experience bro :D
