Inspiration
Capital One, one of many sponsors mentioned that for their prize we should do something related to finances, our team discussed how difficult it is as a college student to manage finances since we are all young adults and came up with this idea.
What it does
This project is supposed to take in your most basic financial information (How much you want to save, how much you receive per month, how many tentative payments do you make a month) to generate a plan that optimizes the user's budget.
How we built it
Our team split up front end and back end development and used java, js, html and css to code this full-stack project.
Challenges we ran into
Our biggest challenge was connecting the front end to the back end. It was also our last task but we now realize we should've taken that into consideration when we first starting coding separately.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are really proud of learning how to use APIs and becoming more comfortable with full-stack development.
What we learned
We learnt a lot about how important collaboration is when it comes to code because it involves so much more beyond coding functions like in our classes. We really enjoyed the experience overall and definitely learnt a lot.
What's next for Badger Budgeting
We were thinking of converting this into an app so that students could easily access it on their phones.
