Inspiration

AziziAI was born out of a desire to inform others, both Muslims and non-Muslims of accurate explanations of Quranic verses and how they are applicable to everyday life. AI chatbots such as Chat GPT have become a popular source used to gain quick information about such topics. However, chatbots such as Chat GPT contain underlying biases and misinformation, as the data it gathers may come from unreliable sources. That is why we decided to create an AI text recognition software whose data draws from Muslim sources and Muslim perspectives, creating a more authentic reading of Islamic text.

What it does

Our app works in a simple and user friendly way. The user simply inserts a text from the Quran to the text box, with the resulting feedback from the AI providing an in-depth and trusted explanation of the verse, including what it means, how it is applicable to everyday life, and the context from which the verse was created.

How we built it

We built AziziAI using Visual Studio Code and Python coding language, as well as using several APIs to assist in creating the AI features and layout design.

Challenges we ran into

Initially, our plan was to allow our application to scan and read images of text that the user would insert in the submission box. However, after facing difficulties in establishing this feature, we decided to drop it and implement it at a later date.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are particularly proud of the fact that our AI draws from trusted Islamic sources that provide users with accurate and trusted interpretations of Quranic verses. This will hopefully provide users with a simple yet effective tool to quickly gather such information from Muslim sources instead of more conventional but inaccurate ones like Chat GPT.

What we learned

We learned how to implement AI APIs into our application to and feed such AIs with customized data that we believe would better serve our mission and the voice of the Muslim community.

What's next for AziziAI

Moving forward, AziziAI will work to embed more features into our application, such as the previously mentioned image scanning AI that will hopefully make our application more applicable and user friendly to a wide range of users.
