Inspiration:

The dropshipping and e-commerce arbitrage model has exploded in popularity, but sellers face a brutal reality: manually listing products between Amazon and eBay is tedious, error-prone, and doesn't scale. We watched sellers spend 10-15 minutes per listing, only to lose profits when prices changed or stock ran out. We knew there had to be a better way, automation that's smart enough to handle the complexity but simple enough that anyone can use it.

What it does:

AutoShip is a one-click cross-platform listing automation tool that transforms how sellers operate between Amazon and eBay. It imports any number of products from Amazon and instantly creates professional eBay listings with optimized titles, descriptions, images, and pricing. Using the Gemini API, AutoShip intelligently understands products and automates the entire listing process. Beyond listing, it provides smart repricing with profit margin protection (automatically accounting for eBay fees and shipping), real-time stock monitoring to prevent overselling, bulk upload capabilities for scaling operations, and compliance checking to keep sellers aligned with eBay and Amazon policies.

How we built it:

We built AutoShip as a browser extension leveraging multiple technologies. The core intelligence comes from Google's Gemini API, which analyzes product data to generate optimized listings. We integrated with both Amazon and eBay APIs for data extraction and listing management. The real-time monitoring system uses web scraping and API polling to track price and stock changes. We implemented a pricing algorithm that factors in target margins, platform fees, and shipping costs. The bulk upload feature uses efficient batch processing, while the custom description editor gives sellers brand control. The entire system is designed to be lightweight yet powerful, running seamlessly in the browser while handling complex backend operations.

Challenges we ran into:

Cross-platform API integration was more complex than anticipated—eBay and Amazon have very different data structures and listing requirements. Mapping product categories between platforms required extensive testing and edge case handling. Real-time monitoring at scale presented performance challenges, requiring us to optimize our polling strategies and implement smart caching. The repricing algorithm needed to be sophisticated enough to handle dynamic fees, shipping variations, and maintain margins without being too aggressive. We also had to build robust error handling for scenarios like API rate limits, authentication issues, and malformed product data. Ensuring compliance with both platforms' policies while maximizing automation was a delicate balance.

Accomplishments that we're proud of:

We've created a tool that genuinely transforms the dropshipping workflow—reducing what took 10-15 minutes down to literally one click. The Gemini integration produces listings that are not just functional but actually well-optimized and professional-looking. Our smart repricing system protects profits automatically, something that previously required constant manual monitoring. The real-time stock sync prevents the nightmare scenario of selling items that are out of stock. We're especially proud that AutoShip makes enterprise-level capabilities accessible to small sellers—bulk operations, automated repricing, and professional catalogs are no longer just for big operations. The compliance features mean sellers can scale safely without risking account suspensions.

What we learned:

Building automation for real-world e-commerce revealed just how much complexity exists in what seems like a simple workflow. We learned that intelligent product understanding (via Gemini) is crucial, generic automation isn't enough. Platform policies are strict and constantly evolving, so compliance can't be an afterthought. We discovered that sellers care as much about reducing errors and stress as they do about saving time. The economics of dropshipping are razor-thin, so even small improvements in margin protection or bulk efficiency create significant value. We also learned that the best automation is invisible, sellers want results, not complexity.

What's next for AutoShip:

We're planning to expand beyond Amazon-to-eBay arbitrage to support Walmart, AliExpress, and other marketplaces. Enhanced AI features using Gemini will include automatic product trend analysis, competitor price tracking, and SEO optimization suggestions. We're building out analytics dashboards to help sellers understand their profit margins, best-performing products, and growth opportunities. Automated supplier diversification to find backup sources when primary suppliers run out of stock is in development. We want to add multi-user support for teams managing larger operations. Integration with inventory management systems and accounting software will create a complete business solution. Finally, we're exploring AI-powered customer service automation to handle buyer inquiries across platforms, truly making this a hands-free dropshipping operation.
