AUTO FOCUS: On the Prime Directive is a grindhouse-style music video that throws Mclusky into the chaos of a brutal, no-rules death race, where analog grit meets AI-driven madness.
At its core is real, high-speed drone footage of stripped-down cars tearing dangerously close around the band, shot practically, on location. These live-action sequences served as the foundation: single frames from the drone footage were extracted and used to generate AI-animated sequences, transitioning seamlessly between raw reality and machine-born mayhem.
Using Runway, Photoshop, Higgsfield, and Kling AI 1.6/2.0, explosions, mounted guns, and apocalyptic visual effects were layered into the footage, transforming real cars into rolling death machines without compromising their physical presence. The AI didn’t replace the action, it cranked it into overdrive.
The intro and outro were fully AI-generated, compositing roto-scoped live-action elements with AI-generated aerials, building a scorched world of burning skies, death race banners, and stylized title overlays. Final grading and grindhouse treatment were completed in After Effects and Premiere, capturing the grit, grain, and burn of vintage B-movie film.
