Inspiration
Atlas is inspired by a game we used to play as kids verbally.
What it does
Our app is a simple web game called Atlas, where the user goes against a computer in a game that tests geographical knowledge. The premise of the game is entering a country starting with a specific letter, and going against the computer until you miss one answer. After the first entry from the user, the computer would say a country starting with the last letter of the user's answer. And then the computer and user would continue going back and forth.
How we built it
We built it with html, javascript and css.
Challenges we ran into
We struggled with our lack of css and html knowledge to make a interactive site with page elements rather than prompts and alerts.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we were able to make a basic web game working even though all 3 of us had little to no experience with javascript, html and css.
What we learned
We learned a lot about the basics of making a web app with html css and javascript and how they fit together and what each thing does. We also learned the struggles of debugging and that without proper planning and the pre requisite knowledge we were unable to make a completed project.
What's next for Atlas
We want to make it more educational and teach people about the countries that the computer generates in the game. This would be done by implementing code that would allow each location that the computer generated to be either accessible to a link to a website with further information or by implementing the google maps api and zooming in on a location in order for the user to learn more.
