Inspiration

When you start looking at post-secondary options, we found it difficult to navigate and even apply for scholarships. bursaries, and anything to aid in student funding. There was virtually no one to tell you where to look or how to apply, so my mind wandered into how we could make that process easier and in a way streamline it for people. The solution we came up with was to compile all resources, scholarships, bursaries, and the sorts into the Athena Project.

What it does

This website is intended to compile, organize, filter, and distribute economic resources for students.

How we built it

We built this using the node framework, and web technologies including HTML, CSS, and Javascript

Challenges we ran into

We are running into trouble deploying our web app with the node.js framework on Netlify. We also ran into several errors when working with different views. To elaborate, the error was called " "style sheet not loaded because of MIME-type".

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I strove to put emphasis on the landing page, namely, I wanted to emphasize simplicity and a kind of "sleek look" on the UI/UX. Also, I managed to cascade the landing page header so I could add cool animations

What we learned

How to get file input into javascript and consequently, back to the HTML page.

What's next for Athena Project

There are several things to do as we believe that it can become a genuine resource for BCIT students. Detailed on our resources page, our current todo list is:

  • implement dynamic search functionality for resources -compile more resources
  • make the resource page more pretty
