Astro Bot

Inspiration

What it does

This discord bot has several features like:

• Astronomy Picture of the day
• Horoscope
• People In Space

How we built it

Our team was broken, one person didn't do anything the other sent copied code, so in the last two hours I learnt discord.py and built this bot, and my team memeber miffy provided the icon for the avatar of the bot, which she had drawn herself.

Challenges we ran into

• 2 hours of time and a new library
• I had no info about how to work with apis in python
• I had no info about the json module
• No support from team except miffy(I don't have her mail id)

Accomplishments that we're proud of

• Presentable bot in 2 hours, without any knowledge and no support from team

What we learned

• Discord.py
• json standard library
• requests standard library

What's next for Astro Bot

• More commands, space data from space and nasa api, jobs, push notifications chrome extension etc..
