Inspiration
We built SOLfolio to make asset issuance and management on Solana simple and accessible. Our goal was to create a user-friendly platform where businesses and developers can mint, manage, and track tokenized assets effortlessly.
What it does
SOLfolio contains role-based access, supply adjustments, treasury management, and real-time analytics. It streamlines the entire process while utilising Solana's speed and low fees. Whether you're experimenting or building real-world financial applications, SOLfolio gives you the tools to do it all—easily and efficiently.
How we built it
To build the UI components of SOLfolio, we used next.js with superbase to store the data in the backend. Moreover, we utilized smart contracts for the Solana network, which was built using the rust programming language for creating, minting, and burning assets.
Challenges we ran into
The most difficult challenge we had during the development of SOLfolio was that the contract function that creates assets was throwing errors while trying to make a transaction with an SOL account from our Phantom wallet. The contract was difficult to interact with the devnet, and there were issues using the tree SDK. Moreover, since this was our first time building using the rust programming language, we had more than a few challenges understanding its logic and syntax.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of many accomplishments during this hackathon:
- Coding on rust for the first time.
- Building smart contracts that run on the Solana devnet.
- Building an asset management system that utilizes tokenization through Solana and blockchain.
- Finally, build a product that is deployed on a GoDaddy domain.
- Building a user-intuitive UI by leveraging next.js and tailwind.css.
- Participating in the largest hackathon in NYC.
- The ability to revolutionize the ways of financial technology.
What we learned
We learned a lot during this hackathon:
- How to deploy a contract on solana.
- How to write contracts using rust.
- Networking with industry professionals and gaining essential mentorship.
What's next for SOLfolio
We still have a lot to do. SOLfolio is not just a product; it is a platform that will revolutionize asset management within the fintech industry. Due to the time constraints for submission for this hackathon, many features, such as treasury, asset distribution, and role-based access control, were unable to be completed. After the hackathon, we plan to further integrate these features and hopefully get investment to start our own asset management organization.
