Starry Night by Van Gogh - An intricate analysis of artwork by Gemini API that details color, emotion, shape, composition, lighting, etc.

Inspiration

We were inspired by our own artistic passion. We use art to express ourselves in ways that many can’t understand. We want the beauty of art to be accessible and understandable to all people of various disabilities including color blindness.

What it does

Our web application analyzes artwork and provides a detailed description of the emotion and techniques behind it.

How we built it

This app was built using Python for backend coding and HTML/CSS for the user interface. Group collaboration was done using GitHub.

Challenges we ran into

It was difficult to figure out how to implement Google Gemini AI into our application through Python coding, and to combine the user interface with functionality.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of being able to show up and create an application from scratch, especially because this is our first hackathon.

What we learned

We learned how to use GitHub and VS Code to program applications with teams, and how to use HTML and CSS for formatting.

What's next for ArtSense

There is still a lot that can be done with this project idea to make it even more descriptive about the art uploaded, and to make it be able to store the various analyses of art pieces so users could store a library of all of the works.

I worked on the backend code of the project, which includes utilizing Gemini API to generate responses that will fulfill the project objective. Additionally, I started up and created the web app through Flask to combine both frontend and backend programs into one interactive app. This experience was truly a grand one, as I learned various aspects of app development, such as the integration of AI, coding backend code, web-app development, and developing essential programming skills in general. I did not expect to learn as much as I did from creating this, and I am truly grateful for the experience.

I worked on the front end. I have a bit of experience in CSS and HTML so it helped me a lot here. This was my first time using Visual Code Studio and I learned a lot from this project. I worked on the UI/UX with my front end partner and made the website interactive.

luvlkp Lama
I worked on front-end HTML/CSS code and the UI, along my partner, to ensure the usability and effective presentation of the image interpretation. As a first-time hacker, I learned a lot about using GitHub and VS Code to create and debug programs, as well as how AI can be utilized in development.
