Inspiration

Our group loves the arts and artistic expression, and we deal with Artist's Block ourselves. So, we wanted to create something that could fuel and bring life to people's passions, and help us personally.

What it does

Our project has a database of crafts/art projects that we recommend to users based on the categories or keywords they select. We also supply them with a shopping list, should they need any materials.

How we built it

We built the entire project in Java using 4 different classes. We worked collaboratively on many aspects but did divide some of the methods and classes.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into some challenges with creating our database, as it took a little bit to find an efficient way to do so. We also had some issues with reading in our data file that took all 4 team members to fix.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud at how extensive and detailed our database is, and how well our shopping list component work.

What we learned

We learned a lot of patience, as some aspects of our code took hours and a patient mind. We also learned how to effectively troubleshoot, as fixing our file reading/input took a lot of troubleshooting skills like peer revision, editing in smaller parts, and ultimately starting over.

What's next for ArtisticAid

Next would be creating a friendly user interface/website, and maybe expanding our services to include more personalizable crafts and the ability to combine crafts.
