The Problem We Observed

Observing people planning weddings, we noticed a pattern: no matter how organized or prepared they were, creating the seating chart inevitably became a source of stress and conflict. Couples spend countless hours arranging and rearranging names, trying to balance family dynamics, friend groups, and those inevitable "please don't seat us with them" requests. "We've watched couples spread index cards across their living room floors, create elaborate spreadsheets, and even resort to drawing names from a hat," our founder notes. "What should be a simple logistical task was causing unnecessary anxiety during an already stressful time."

The Insight

We realized that wedding seating isn't just about putting names at tables—it's about understanding and optimizing a complex social network. Each guest brings connections, histories, and dynamics that create either harmony or tension.

Our Solution

We're developing Arrange.ly to transform this chaotic process into a streamlined, data-driven approach. By collecting key information through a simple guest survey and applying relationship-based algorithms, our system maps the invisible social connections between guests. The technology identifies optimal groupings that human planners might miss—like seating the bride's college friend with the groom's cousins based on shared interests, while tactfully separating guests with historical tensions.
